I have just returned from my second viewing in 4 days. My overiding impression is that the film doesn't have the same rewatchability as Infinity War. When you watch it again you realise just how much of it could have been cut. The first two acts were boring on the second watch, saved only by the final 20 minutes of action.
The first time of watching I walked out thinking 9/10. I had a niggling feeling that its not as good as IW and I did have the urge to look at my phone once or twice (which has never happened before during an MCU movie)
The story is decent, the emotional sucker punches are well played. I'm not a fan of time travel as it just undermines everything. Basically from this point onwards everthing that happens can be undone by travelling back and changing it! Ruins the present for me.
My biggest complaint is the lack of action, its barely 20 minutes of a 3 hour film. I'm all for creating drama and emotion but if I'm honest I want to see superheroes fighting (Hulk vr HulkBuster anyone. Everything felt rushed, the final revival of all the heroes did make me choke a little though. Each character was then given about 1.5 seconds each to kill a generic bad guy. Thanos was very overpowered dispute not having the gauntlet, easy dispatching Thor, Iron Man and Cap. It just made a mockery of the first film.
I liked the use of the female heroes, it was a shame Black Widow was sacrificed instead of the woeful Ronin. I loved Pepper and Tony fighting side by side (for 1.5 seconds)
It could have been amazing, it was very good. A fitting end but not the one I really wanted.
